found it odd that below sea level netherlands declared a water shortage.  videos like these make me believe human civilization peaked in mid-1990s.

swapped shower thoughts at speakeasy with fei fei, drink menu printed on tarot cards.  she explained order of magnitude as difference between orgasm and dessert.  both great, but one an order of magnitude better.

listened to cotton eyed joe rhapsodize about pleasures of being nearly choked out.

you grapple with a black belt, you fall into deep water without knowing how to swim. when you train, you’re being drowned in a different way each time and you learn again and again how to swim.

understood appeal of jiu jitsu: no illusions. boxers come to trust that an opponent won’t try to tackle them to the ground because that’s not what happens in boxing rings. karate experts don’t actually know what would happen if they were to deliver a full-power uppercut or rabbit punch to an opponent. jj techniques tried and tested in real-world conditions, if a practitioner puts you in a triangle choke, they know you’re going to sleep in ten seconds on and off the mat.
